Rotacinis šilumokaitis susideda iš alveolinio šilumos rato, korpuso, pavaros sistemos ir sandarinimo dalių. Išmetamasis ir lauko oras praeina per pusę rato atskirai, kai ratas sukasi, šiluma ir drėgmė keičiasi išmetamuoju ir lauko oru. Energijos naudojimo efektyvumas yra iki 70–90%.

Patikimas šilumos ratas pagamintas iš 0,05 mm storio aliuminio folijos. Visą šilumos ratą gamina aliuminio folijos, padengtos 0,04 mm storio 3A molekuliniu sietu.

Rotacinis šilumokaitis gali būti įmontuotas vėdinimo įrenginyje (AHU) kaip pagrindinėje šilumos atgavimo sekcijos dalyje. Paprastai šilumokaičio korpuso šoninė panelė nereikalinga, išskyrus tai, kad apvadas buvo nustatytas AHU.

Jį taip pat galima montuoti ventiliacijos sistemos kanaluose kaip pagrindinę šilumos grąžinimo sekcijos dalį, sujungtą flanšu. Tokiu atveju šoninis šilumokaičio skydelis yra būtinas, kad būtų išvengta nuotėkio.
