Building ventilation is necessary to achieve a healthy and comfortable indoor environment, but as energy prices continue to rise it is necessary to reduce the energy consumption. Using Air handling unit with heat recovery reduces the ventilation heat loss significantly, but in cold climates like Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The ventilation systems will typically face problems with ice formation in the air to air heat exchanger. When the warm humid room air comes in contact with the cold fresh air inside the exchange, the moisture freezes to ice. And this is the main challenge of this project.
