Project Challenge:

Building ventilation is necessary to achieve a healthy and comfortable indoor environment, but as energy prices continue to rise it is necessary to reduce the energy consumption. Using Air handling unit with heat recovery reduces the ventilation heat loss significantly, but in cold climates like Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The ventilation systems will typically face problems with ice formation in the air to air heat exchanger. When the warm humid room air comes in contact with the cold fresh air inside the exchange, the moisture freezes to ice. And this is the main challenge of this project.

Project Solution:

We added a extra system to preheat the inlet air to resolve the ice formation problem. We chose the AHU functional sections to match the client requirement. The client provided the specific air flow, cooling capacity, heating capacity includes the pre-heat capacity as reference data. We also took the type of heat recovery and installation method into consideration and recommended the suitable model to our client.

Project Benefits:

The Air handling unit with heat recovery function reduces the ventilation heat loss significantly and achieve eco-friendly and cost saving purposes. The preheating system also provides the suitable and comfort indoor air. Filtered fresh air create a ideal working environment and improve staffs productivity.
